Michael Doherty has over 28 years experience as an architect, working on a broad range of project types, including commercial office, multi-family and single family residential,  retail and mixed-use. From initial planning and schematic design through design development, construction documents and construction administration, Mike has expertise in all aspects of architectural practice. He has also worked for some of Boston's top firms, most notably ADD Inc, where he was a Senior Associate Principal for many years. While at ADD, Mike led design teams on a number of large and complex projects for a variety of clients.

Mike grew up in the Midwest and studied architecture at the University of Notre Dame.  While there, he spent a full year abroad, participating in the Rome Studies Program.  It was during that time that Mike's life-long interests in urban design, watercolor sketching and 'everything Italian' were first kindled.

"When you sit down to do a watercolor, you must truly look and pay attention.  And when you do, you inevitably learn something.  Color, light, form proportion ... all these things make up the world as we see and experience it.  Whether something is pleasing to the eye or not has everything to do with these few essential ingredients."  Mike has a passion and sensitivity for these components of the visual realm - and he brings this to all his work.
